Greece, remaining consistent in its role as a pillar of stability and solidarity in the Eastern Mediterranean region, declared its assistance and support for the Government and people of Lebanon.
Responding immediately to the current humanitarian crisis and to the Flash Appeal of the United Nations Secretary-General, Greece is completing a first round of humanitarian and development assistance, through Hellenic Aid of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres launched the humanitarian Flash Appeal on March 13, 2026, earmarking $308.3 million to support one million people affected by the escalating crisis in Lebanon.
Hellenic Aid is Greece’s official development assistance organization, managing and funding support to programs and projects in other countries with whom Greece has bilateral relations.

Greek assistance is structured around three central axes:
- Financial support through the UN. Greece has allocated the amount of 300,000 euros as an extraordinary financial contribution to the Humanitarian Fund for Lebanon of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). This move ensures the immediate financing of field actions to relieve the affected people.
- Strengthening the health sector of Lebanon. In close cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO), Greece is offering 500,000 euros to support the Lebanese health system. The funding concerns the implementation of a targeted “Life-Saving and Limb-Saving Hospitalization” program, which will cover the hospitalization needs of vulnerable patients for one year, as well as the supply of necessary medical equipment.
- Provision of humanitarian aid. The transport and delivery of 3 tons of humanitarian aid to Beirut was successfully completed, in collaboration with the Greek Ministry of National Defense. The material, which includes medical supplies, food, water and basic necessities, was transported by a C-130 aircraft of the Hellenic Air Force to Rafic Hariri International Airport. The aid was officially delivered by the Embassy of Greece in Beirut to the Ministry of Social Affairs of Lebanon and the High Relief Committee, in order to be distributed to the most vulnerable population groups.
With these actions, Greece confirms its commitment to defending human dignity and supporting neighboring states in times of crisis, actively contributing to international humanitarian relief efforts.
